By health we mean a state of physical, mental or social well-being. In one sense it means the absence of any disease or infirmity. However, from a positive perspective health is not merely the absence of disease. By physical health we designate good bodily health which is the result of the absence of any disease, and the combined creation of regular exercise, proper diet and nutrition, and proper rest. Mental health is an individual’s emotional and psychological well-being. It is often argued that the absence of mental illness need not entail mental health. The best indicator of the mental health of a person is how efficiently and successfully that person functions. Proper physical, mental and social health ensures overall health.
